WMATA Southern Avenue Bus Garage Replacement In December 2009, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transportation Authority (WMATA) requested proposals for private companies to deliver a replacement of WMATA's existing Southern Avenue garage. The WMATA request asked teams to provide design and construction and the real estate for the replacement facility. Edgemoor Real Estate Services identified a site uniquely suited to providing a cost effective solution for WMATA and formed a partnership, Westphalia Bus Transit Partners, LLC, with the property owners to pursue the WMATA facility. Edgemoor also brought together a highly qualified team to deliver the facility. The team is comprised of leading firms in design of bus maintenance facilities and includes Michael Baker, Maintenance Design Group and Alpha Corporation. Edgemoor is now in the second phase of this procurement with an anticipated project award in late 2011.
