ARLINGTON, VA – Public Private Alliances, LLC has been selected to partner with Arlington County to develop, design, build and finance the new Arlington Mill Community Center, to be built on the site of the existing Community Center which is earmarked for redevelopment. In addition to delivering a new, LEED-certified Community Center, the development will incorporate attractive housing with a mix of affordable and market rate rental units, parking, ground-level retail, and a large Public Plaza for community use and events. The land will remain County-owned.
According to Jamie Martin, Manager with Public Private Alliances, "We are pleased to partner with Arlington County on this important, civic-anchored development to serve the Columbia Pike community. This project will continue the revitalization along the Pike that County staff, CPRO, the Arlington Mill Steering Committee and the community have so diligently planned and executed over the past few years."
Over the next several months, Public Private Alliances and a County team led by Hunter Moore will be working with the Arlington Mill Steering Committee, surrounding community members, as well as the appropriate Arlington County Commissions to develop a design that will be submitted to the County Board by early next year. This time-line would permit a ground breaking next year and an opening in late 2009 or early 2010.
The Public Private Alliances team is comprised of Edgemoor Real Estate Services, a leader in public-private partnership development and construction; Davis Carter Scott, a Virginia-based full-service architectural firm; and Clark Construction Group, LLC, one of the nation’s largest providers of general construction services.
